Advances in Production Management Systems 2017

The Advances in Production Management Systems (APMS) 2017 conference took place from September 3rd to 7th in Hamburg, Germany, at the Hamburg University of Technology. APMS is one of the leading international conferences on production management. Factory2Fit partner Ralph Riedel from Chemnitz University of Technology was involved in organising this event that brought together key experts from both academia and industry.

The APMS conference is organised by the IFIP (International Federation for Information Processing) working group 5.7., established in 1978. The conference theme for this year was ‘Shaping the future of production management – the path to intelligent, collaborative and sustainable manufacturing’. Various aspects of production management were discussed in research papers, case studies and state-of-the-art reports.

The conference included a doctoral workshop, which provided young researchers with the opportunity to present research proposals, special sessions that helped raise visibility on topics focused on a particular scientific or applications area, as well as several industrial tours with on-site visits for participants to visit companies in the area.

One of the topics this year was Industry 4.0, where the focus was not only on smart factories and cyber-physical systems, but also on virtual factories, Operator 4.0, big data applications for production management and virtual and augmented reality in production management.
