ACE Cluster Technical Collaboration Webinars

We have joined forces and are working closely with the other four H2020 Factories of the Future projects funded under the same topic: Continuous adaptation of work environments with changing levels of automation in evolving production systems. Together with InclusiveHuManManuWork and A4BLUE, Factory2Fit forms the ACE Factories cluster.

The ACE Factories Cluster has been collaborating actively through a variety of knowledge sharing activities including Technical Collaboration Webinars. The webinars have served as a useful forum for finding synergies, discussing the work on our projects’ solutions and sharing best practices and experiences and lessons learnt from them. These technical knowledge sharing webinars allow us to assess and compare the strengths and weaknesses of our various approaches to developing worker-centred factory solutions.

The A4BLUE project organised a technical collaboration webinar on Adaptation and Interaction on the 4th April 2019. Factory2Fit gave two presentations during the webinar. The first of these was presented by Stelios Zikos and Giorgos Albanis from CERTH-ITI and discussed the ‘Factory2Fit Adaptation Concept and Solutions’. The second was presented by Thomas Walter and Karsten Muller from Continental’s CPT Group and discussed the ‘Industrial Use of Adaptation Tools at the Continental Metrology Lab‘.

The Inclusive Project organised another webinar on the 19th June 2019, and it focused on our approaches to Training and Guidance Solutions. Factory2fit partners Sami Tuominen from Prima Power and Timo Kuula from VTT discussed ‘Hands-on pre-training in a Virtual Environment’, exploring how this solution allows workers to begin learning work processes before the relevant assembly line has been completely constructed. This in turn leads to a hugely reduced learning curve and makes the assembly line much more productive, much more quickly. In addition to this, Cemal Ozturk from UTRC-I and Giorgos Albanis from CERTH-ITI discussed our Onsite Training tools in their presentation on Learning and Guidance Solutions for Manual Assembly Systems. This solution allows workers to rapidly cut down on learning time by using videos to help instruct workers on the job. If a worker is unsure how to assemble a part, they can access videos of experts demonstrating its assembly by simply taking a picture of the part using their phone.

These Technical Webinars are extremely useful for sharing best practices, finding synergies and avoiding duplication of efforts. The slides from all these presentations will soon be available on the ACE Factories Website.
